“Canada Needs an Election Yesterday – Call It”

Just when our country needs leadership, our political leaders are failing or missing in action.
On January 6th Prime Minister Trudeau announced his resignation and since then has been doing his farewell tour and trying to navigate the icy waters of Trump tariffs with no political sway or swagger to speak of.
January 28th Premier Doug Ford calls an early election in Ontario to get a strong mandate (which he already had) to fight the good fight against the Trump administration.
Since February 7th Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has been mired down with healthcare mis-spending allegations.
February 20th Premier Dennis King announced stepping down as Premier and Leader of the PEI Conservative Party
On February 25th the Newfoundland Premier Andrew Furey announced his resignation.
On February 27th Quebec’s Premier Francois Legault is now on the ropes as he is facing what the Globe and Mail describes as the Quebec Auto Board ‘fiasco’ that could be the largest scandal since the Charbonneau commission and could bring down the Quebec government
And this past weekend Canada finds itself with Mark Carney, our new Prime Minister that Canadians never voted for.
In the meantime, Doug Ford receives his strong mandate and throws electrical grenades at our neighbours, PM Trudeau sent a message to Trump that while Donald may be a “smart man, he has made a stupid decision”. (Good one Justin!) and Mark Carney gets sworn in as PM Friday.
So, where are we? Four provinces with leadership problems…A new Prime Minister with his newly found government and Doug Ford seemingly going it alone as Ontario goes to Washington.
It’s time for our political leaders to rally the troops and give Canadians the leadership we not only need but deserve.
Canada needs leadership and we need it now.
Call it!
